Isabel_Leon480 Born in Ciudad Real (1953), graduated as an architect from Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) in 1983. In 1984 she began her professional activity as an architect and urban designer at her office in Madrid. The works developed through those years led to the creation of Y. LEÓN, ARQUITECTURA Y URBANISMO S.L.P. Currently, She focuses his activity on managing projects from start to finish, optimizing solutions, costs and resources, as Project Manager. She has won various prizes in architecture and urbanism competitions through her career, always focused on the social concept of architecture and conceived from the initial idea to the final delivery of the project. She has promoted and organised, in collaboration with several Institutes of Spanish Architects and the Spanish School of Industrial Organization (EOI), training and specializing courses in environmental management, financed by European NOW and LIFE programs, for women architects. Currently she combines her professional activity with a deep involvement in different international committees and working groups:
  • Treasurer of the Green Building Council Spainz since march 2009.
  • Recommended Professional to enhance the Advisory Board of the National Quality Assessment and Accreditation Agency of Spain (ANECA), since 2009.
  • Member of the Board of Trustees of the CEAR Habitáfrica Foundation, taking part in sustainable development and integral basic habitability projects in different African countries..
She has also held other positions:
  • Spanish representative at the Habitat Group of the International Union of Architects (UIA), Madrid 2005-2010
  • Founder Chairwoman of the Association for Sustainability and Architecture (ASA), promoted by Spain’s National Council of Architect Colleges (CSCAE), Madrid 2007-2009.
  • Member of the Board of Representatives at Madrid Official College of Architects (COAM), Madrid, 1988-2000.
  • Secretary of the Senior Council of the Spanish College of Architects (CSCAE), Madrid 1988-2000.
  • Founder member of the European Council of Architects (ACE) as representative of the Senior Council of the Spanish College of Architects (CSCAE), Brussels 1991-1994.
  • Treasurer of the European Council of Architects (ACE), Brussels 1991-1994.
  • Founder member of the Organising Committee of the Spanish Architecture Biennial as representative of the Senior Council of the Spanish College of Architects (CSCAE), Madrid 1990-2000.
  • Founder member of the Organisation Committee of the Latin American Architecture Biennial as representative of the Senior Council of the Spanish College of Architects (CSCAE), Madrid 1996-2000.
  • Founder member of the National Committee of EUROPAN as representative of the Senior Council of the Spanish College of Architects (CSCAE), 1989-2000.
